It makes a change to see a loco facing north on the GCR these days and here 8F 48305 masquerading as 48773 is seen leaving Quorn for Loughborough with the mineral set

This location is great for morning shots provided certain photters don't stand near the bridges and ruin everyone elses shots!

Walking further down the line into the cutting as 30777 Sir Lamiel passes with the 10am departure from Loughborough

Visiting from the NYMR Q6 0-8-0 63395 passes beneath the occupation bridge with the minerals

Returned to steam in 2007 the Q6 class locomotives worked freight trains mainly in the North-East

Robinson 2-8-0 63601 on a freight approaching Quorn

78019 at Kinchley Lane with the 11.30am from Loughborough

8F 48773 on a passenger turn and sporting a wreath and LCGB headboard bursts from beneath the pipe bridge near Kinchley Lane.Into the sun this one so I've tried a sepia tone

The gallery at Kinchley lane was huge as Q6 63395 passes with the windcutters

At Rabbit bridge the swirling wind was making life difficult as Sir Lamiel passes.Note the smoke ring!

The smoke just about clears the carriages and the blue sky makes a good background

I don't normally bother with tender first pictures but this view of Cromwell on the minerals returning to Loughborough contre-jour lightingpassing Swithland Reservoir is different

Similarly 48773 is seen tender first with a freight from Loughborough. I do wish those concrete blocks would move to the left!

This shot shows the effect of the strong east wind at this location as 63601 passes with the parcels

This is a different shot for me and shows Cromwell heading south between the bridges at Kinchley Lane with the 1.00pm departure from Loughborough

A move to Woodthorpe Lane now and 48773 heads north with the parcels beneath the bridge

Ex GWR 4141 on it's only outing today heads past Woodthorpe bridge with the 1.35pm local train for Leicester
