Whilst the roof has been renewed the old brick buildings remain.New platforms have also been constructed

The station entrance has been remodelled to include ticket office and a small cafe and papershop.The old entrance was just a hole in the wall.

I then went to find the site of the old Great Central Girder Bridge which has sadly gone.The abutments can just be seen.

I spent many happy hours near this spot as a lad in the 1950's  it was a favourite spot for gricers as both the main LMS and GCR lines could be viewed from here.

The day of our trip dawned sunny as we waited for the 10.24am departure for Euston seen here approaching Platform 5.
